Assistant Minister Shen Guofang met with Mr. Khalid Malik, the new Resident Representative of the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) in China, in the Ministry's office on September 29th.

Mr. Shen extended his congratulations to Mr. Malik for his election as UN Resident Coordinator in China. Mr. Shen stressed that the Chinese side would like to develop cooperative relationship with UNDP on the basis of mutual respect and friendly consultation.

Mr. Malik expressed his thanks to Mr. Shen. Mr. Malik said that he would like to make contributions in strengthening the cooperative relationship between the UN and Chinaduring his term office. The two sides exchanged views mainly on the issue of Ms. Louise Frechette, the Standing Deputy Sectary General's visit to Chinaand the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
