An international conference on "A Disarmament Agenda for the 21st Century", cosponsored by the United Nations and Foreign Ministry of China, will be held in Beijing from April 2 to 4. About forty high-ranking officials and eminent scholars from over twenty countries will attend the conference. The agenda of the conference cover important issues in disarmament area, such as defense doctrines, disarmament and the UN today, nuclear disarmament and elimination of nuclear danger, prevention of arms race in outer space, conventional weapons and revolution in military affairs, missile proliferation and missile defense. Under current international circumstances, the convocation of such a high-level disarmament conference is of great significance. It is China??s sincere hope that the conference will contribute to enhancing mutual understanding, building-up common ground and promoting the international arms control and disarmament process.
