Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May be Deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects(CCW)

2008/02/29

China has always attached great importance to and supported the process of the CCW, and earnestly implemented the obligations under the Convention and its protocols. China has also actively participated in the work of the Group of Government Experts (GGE) of the CCW.

With the joint efforts of all the States Parties, the CCW process has continuously made positive achievements. The final documents of the 3rd Review Conference in 2006 which consist of a series of important decisions demonstrate that the universality and effectiveness of the CCW has been further enhanced.

The Protocol on Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) is an important achievement of the work of the GGE of the CCW. It is conducive to mitigating the humanitarian concerns caused by ERW. China welcomes the entry into force of the Protocol on ERW. The Chinese Government is dedicated to the early ratification of the Protocol and is now actively undertaking relevant preparatory work.
