As the sole multilateral negotiating body for disarmament, the Conference on Disarmament (CD) is the core part of multilateral disarmament regime and plays an irreplaceable role in promoting the international arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation process. China has always attached great importance to the CD and participated in its work in an active and constructive manner.

Regrettably, the CD has been unable to conduct substantive work for many years. China appreciates the efforts made by member states to break the stalemate in CD, which represent a right step forward. China is willing to work with all parties to explore proper ways to address concerns of each and every member, with a view to achieving a balanced and comprehensive Program of Work acceptable to all, and breaking the impasse in CD at an early date.
