As a multilateral and voluntary cooperation mechanism, the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) was established in May 2007. It aims to develop advanced nuclear fuel cycle technologies to promote the development of nuclear energy for civil use. China is one of the founding partner states.

In principle, China supports all the efforts aimed at enhancing peaceful use of nuclear energy and strengthening international nuclear non-proliferation regime. As a partner of GNEP, China is ready to cooperate with relevant partners to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy in a safe and secure manner.
