Zeng Qinghong Meets with Bolivian Foreign Minister Loaiza in Beijing

On November 22, 2005, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with visiting Bolivian Foreign Minister Armando Loaiza in the Great Hall of the People.

Zeng made positive comments on bilateral relations. He said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between both sides. With joint efforts by both sides, bilateral friendly cooperative relations in various areas have witnessed smooth development and both sides have become good friends and partners.

Zeng emphasized that first, China attaches great importance to bilateral relations and would like to make joint efforts with Bolivia on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits to further enhance mutual political trust and push for in-depth development of bilateral mutually beneficial and friendly cooperative relations. Second, China would like to work with Bolivia to earnestly implement economic and trade cooperation programs already signed between both sides in the principle of mutual benefits and common development, continuously tap potential, expand cooperation area and further expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China would like to provide economic assistance within its available resources to Bolivia and encourage businesses with strength and good reputation to invest there. Third, China would like to work with Bolivia to keep closer consultations and coordination in major regional and international issues, jointly safeguard proper rights and interest of the great majority of developing nations and make contributions to promoting world peace, stability and development.

Loaiza indicated that the Bolivian government attaches great importance to relations with China and would like to continue committing to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various areas. The Bolivian government adheres to the one-China policy. Zeng appreciated such a position.
