On 7 November 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
Xi Jinping recalled happily his friendly exchanges with President Raul Castro Ruz and Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz. Xi Jinping expressed that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers. At present, the international situation is undergoing profound and complex changes. Both China and Cuba are in the critical period of development and they should join hands advancing and striving for development. China will as always attach great importance to relations with Cuba. Both sides should keep close high-level exchanges, share experience on state governance, accelerate promoting cooperation in major fields and keep close cooperation in international affairs so as to jointly boost the development of China's relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries. China wishes the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban people new greater achievements in the cause of building socialism.
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla conveyed the cordial greetings from President Raul Castro Ruz and Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz to Xi Jinping. He expressed that the Cuba-China traditional friendship has withstood the historical tests and become the valuable treasure shared by the two countries. The Cuban people are determined to inherit and develop the friendly relations between the two countries and hope to strengthen exchanges with the Chinese side to expand cooperation in economy and trade, investment and other fields. Cuba wishes the upcoming Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee a success and is ready to learn from China for the experience of success on reform and opening up. Cuba firmly supports China's efforts to safeguard state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
