Guyana Recognizes China's Full Market Economy Status

On October 3 2004, Minister Nadir of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of Guyana, when meeting with the visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, expressed that the Guyana Government recognizes China's full market economy status and hopes that the two countries could enhance economic cooperation and trade as well as the mutual coordination in the WTO.

Li Zhaoxing noted that as developing countries and members of the WTO, China and Guyana should cooperate more closely in bilateral and multilateral fields in order to bring benefit to both peoples.

On the same day, Li went to the construction site of the Guyana International Meeting Center which was aided by China and acquired some information about the process of the construction. He also visited the Chinese funded corporations in Guyana as well as greeted the members of Chinese medical team to aid Guyana.
