Vice President Zeng Qinghong Meets with Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Taiana

2006/11/27

On November 27, 2006, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met at the Great Hall of the People with Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Taiana, who was here in China for an official visit.

Zeng hailed the important progress achieved in bilateral ties since the establishment of diplomatic ties 34 years ago, especially since 2004 when the two countries launched strategic partnership. Zeng said Sino-Argentine ties had developed to "a mature stage". Zeng urged both sides to look to the future, continue joint efforts and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, so as to push the strategic partnership to one new level after another.

Taiana said Argentina and China shared common ground, and supported each other on issues involving sovereignty and territorial integrity. With the sustained, rapid economic growth of both sides, the two countries were facing new opportunities for cooperation, he said. Argentina welcomes a positive role of a strong China in the world arena, and is ready to work with China to strengthen cooperation and achieve common development, he added.
