On May 28, 2007, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang met with a Peruvian parliamentary delegation headed by Lourdes Alcorta, president of Peru-China friendship group of the Peruvian parliament, with its members including Second Vice President Lourdes Mendoza del Solar and Second Vice President of the Congress Fabiola Morales. Li spoke highly of bilateral ties and appreciated the contributions that all parties in Peru and the Peru-China friendship group have made to friendly exchanges and cooperation between the peoples, parliaments and political parties of the two countries. The Peruvian side noted their government and congress attach great importance to developing ties with China and hope to strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and other areas. They also reiterated Peru's adherence to the one-China policy.
