On August 24, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai respectively some of the foreign leaders, who are here to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and relevant activities. Wen welcomed these leaders to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, adding that members of the big Olympic family have actively participated in and supported the Beijing Olympic Games, fully representing the spirit of mutual understanding, friendship, unity and fair competition. Wen expressed sincere gratitude for their contributions to the success of the games. The foreign leaders to the meetings congratulated Wen on the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games. They highly praised China's excellent preparation and organization of the Games, which, they said, elevated the Olympic movement to a higher level. While meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar, Wen said the two sides have kept high-level visits and built up mutual understanding and trust. He said the two countries are good neighbors, and the Chinese government takes the ties with Mongolia as a priority in its relations with neighboring countries. China is willing to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties with Mongolia as an opportunity to promote the bilateral relations, Wen said. Bayar said Mongolia hopes to celebrate the anniversary jointly with China and further enhance the good-neighborly friendship of mutual trust between the two countries. He urged both sides to focus on cooperation in economy, trade, energy and mineral resources and border port construction. In order to show friendly feelings of Mongolian people towards Chinese people, the Mongolian side invited 60 Chinese children from earthquake-hit areas to recuperate in Mongolia next year. During the meeting with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as Prachanda, Wen said China respected the social system and way of development Nepal had chosen according to its situation. He believed Nepal would realize political stability and economic development through joint efforts of all political parties and under the leadership of Prachanda. China and Nepal were friendly neighbors linked by rivers and mountains and China was satisfied with the sound momentum in the development of bilateral relations, Wen said. He noted China would work with Nepal to further the reciprocal cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two peoples. Prachanda said the good-neighborly friendship and cooperative relations between Nepal and China had endured the tests of time. Historic changes were taking place in Nepal's domestic situation. The Nepalese government and people were striving for national peace and stability and economic development, and hoped to get support and cooperation from China. Nepal would, as always, support China's efforts to maintain national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Prachanda said. While meeting with Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit, Wen said the bilateral relations have developed smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic ties four years ago, which has brought about tangible benefits to both peoples. China values the relations with Caribbean countries including the Commonwealth of Dominica, and is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with them on the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity to achieve common development, Wen said. Skerrit said the government and people of the Commonwealth of Dominica thank for China's support and assistance to its economic and social development. The Commonwealth of Dominica will firmly adhere to the one-China policy, supports China's peaceful reunification and will further expand its friendly exchanges and cooperation with China, Skerrit said.
