The relationship between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Albania developed smoothly in 2010 with exchanges and cooperation deepening in various fields.
The two countries maintained high-level exchanges. In July, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo had a brief discussion with Speaker of the Parliament Jozefina Topalli while attending the third World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva. In August, Liu Yunshan, Member of the Political Bureau, Member of the Secretariat and Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, visited Albania and met with President Bamir Topi, Speaker of the Parliament Jozefina Topalli, Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Chairman of the Socialist Party Edi Rama, and General Secretary of the Democratic Party Ridvan Bode. In September, President Bamir Topi came to China for the Albanian National Pavilion Day activities at the Shanghai World Expo and met with NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo. In May, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection and Commissioner General of Albania for the Shanghai World Expo Genc Ruli came to China for Albania's National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo.
The two foreign ministries maintained sound cooperation. In May, the first round of consular consultation between the two foreign ministries was held in Beijing.
Business ties continued to grow and exchanges between political parties and in health, culture, broadcasting and other fields were expanded. In April, Minister of Health Petrit Vasili visited China. General Secretary of the Democratic Party Ridvan Bode came to China for the first China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum. Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Filloreta Kodra came to China for the Global Summit of Women. In October, General Director of Albanian Radio and Television Petrit Beci visited China.
