The year 2010 witnessed steady development of the comprehensive cooperation partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Croatia and continuous expansion of their bilateral cooperation in all fields.
The two countries had frequent important political exchanges. In July, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo had a brief talk with Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Luka Bebic in Geneva on the sidelines of the Third World Conference of Speakers of Parliament. In November, NPC Vice Chairman Ismail Tiliwaldi visited Croatia and met with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and Speaker of the Parliament Luka Bebic respectively. In February, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government and Minister of Culture Cai Wu attended the inauguration ceremony of President Ivo Josipovic. In May, President Ivo Josipovic came to China and attended the National Day of the Croatia Pavillion at the Shanghai World Expo. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met him in Beijing. In July, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ivan Suker visited China and met with Vice Premier Li Keqiang.
On 9 June, the new Chinese ambassador to Croatia Shen Zhifei presented his credentials to President Josipovic.
The two foreign ministries had smooth cooperation. In March, Croatian Minster of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jankovic visited China. Vice President Xi Jinping met him and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with him. The two sides exchanged views on China-Croatia relations and international and regional issues of common interest. In September and December, the two foreign ministries held consultations respectively on consular affairs and foreign policy.
The cooperation in economy, trade, culture and tourism was fruitful. During Minister of Culture Bozo Biskupic's visit to China, the two sides signed the Program of Cooperation in the Field of Culture between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Croatia for the Years 2011-2013. In January, Shan Jixiang, Director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, visited Croatia. In the same month, the "Ink not Ink: An Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Art" was held in Croatia. In May, Croatia and Slovenia jointly held a tourism fair in China. In September, China participated in the Zagreb International Autumn Fair as guest of honor. In October, the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe performed in Croatia.
Party-to-party, non-governmental and local exchanges between the two countries increased. In April, Yangzhou and the city of Korcula became friendship cities. In May, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee Ren Zemin visited Croatia. President of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia Zoran Milanovic came to China for the first China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum. In June, Mayor of the city of Zagreb Milan Bandic visited Shanghai. In July, Minister of the International Department of CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui visited Croatia. In August, Mayor of the city of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel visited China. In September, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee Tang Bingquan visited Croatia. In November, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee Mo Jiancheng, Mayor of Ningbo Mao Guanglie and Senior Advisor to the Beijing Municipal Government Ma Zhipeng visited Croatia respectively. In December, fifty young people from Croatia visited China.
