On June 4, 2007, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with the delegation headed by Mr. Matti Alahuhta, President of the Finnish corporation KONE and attended the ceremony on KONE's donation of RMB1 million for poverty alleviation. The money will be used to build 7 village clinics and 1 Hope Primary School in Jinping and Malipo counties so that the more than 5,500 local villagers and 120 children can get access to medical service and education.

Zhang introduced the poverty alleviation efforts of the foreign ministry and explained the difficulties faced by the above two counties. He extended gratitude to KONE for its active support for the poverty reduction work of the foreign ministry and expressed hope that the company's donation will become a good beginning of long-term bilateral cooperation.

Alahuhta said that China is an important market of KONE. So far the company has set up more than 50 branches in China. It is ready to provide assistance to the development of China's rural area and will send delegates to participate in the completion ceremony of the assistance construction projects in the two counties.
