The Reception Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties between China and Portugal Is Held in Beijing

On February 12, 2009, the reception commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Portugal was held in Beijing. Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and Portuguese Ambassador to China Rui Quartin Santos addressed the reception respectively. Vice Chairman Bai Lichen of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo attended the reception. Addressing the reception, both sides spoke highly of the healthy, stable development of bilateral ties in the past 30 years, saying that the cooperation priority of both sides for the next period of time is to enhance communication and strengthen confidence to jointly deal with the global economic crisis. At the reception, Vice Chairman Bai Lichen of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) also presented a commemorative envelope marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Portugal diplomatic relations to Portuguese Ambassador to China Santos on behalf of the Chinese side.
