Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei Holds Consultation with Special Envoy of British Prime Minister

On February 12, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei, also Chinese coordinator for the preparations of the G-20 financial summit scheduled for April in London, held consultation with Mervyn Davies, special envoy of British Prime Minister & the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, as well as British G20 coordinator Jon Cunliffe. Both sides exchanged views on the preparations for the G-20 financial summit to be held in London. He elaborated on China’s positions and views on the topics and preparations of the London Summit, expressing willingness to work with the British side to ensure that the summit can achieve positive, pragmatic results on enhancing coordination of macroeconomic policies, improving supervision of the financial markets and promoting reform of the international financial institutions.
The British side briefed on the preparations for the summit, saying that the country attaches great importance to China’s positions and concerns and is ready to keep close coordination with the Chinese side and work together for the success of the summit.
