China and Bahrain

The year 2010 saw further development of the friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The two sides maintained frequent exchanges in different fields and at different levels. In March, Zhang Wei, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, led a delegation to the inaugural China-GCC Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum in Bahrain. In May, Wang Chen, Minister of the International Communication Office of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the State Council Information Office, headed a delegation to Bahrain for the Second China-Arab Media Cooperation Forum. In the same month, Nizar Albahrna, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, attended the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum in China. In June, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed bin Mubarak al-Khalifa paid a private visit to China and toured the Shanghai World Expo. Minister of Information and Culture al-Sheikh Mei Bin Mohammed al-Khalifa led a delegation to China for a meeting of the China-Arab Cultural Cooperation Forum and some events of the Arab Cultural Festival. In the wake of the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, President of the Council of Representatives Khalid bin Ahmed al-Dhahrani and Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa sent messages of condolences to President Hu Jintao, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao respectively. The two countries also conducted good cooperation and exchanges in cultural, military and other fields. My Dream, a song and dance performance given by the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe in March, was a big success. In December, the sixth rotation of escorting fleet of the Chinese Navy visited Bahrain.
