On August 1, 2005, President Hu Jintao sent a message to His Majesty Abdullah Ibn Abdul-Aziz to congratulate on his appointment as the new king of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Hu said in the message that he believed His Majesty would carry on King Fahd's will and would lead the Saudi government and people to achieve continuous new achievements in national construction. He sang high praise for the priority that His Majesty has consistently placed on the development of Sino-Saudi relations. He was ready to work together with His Majesty to continue to promote comprehensive and in-depth development of Sino-Saudi friendly and cooperative relations, which will benefit both countries and peoples.
