On March 28 2005, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held a phone conversation with his Sudanese counterpart Ismal and the two sides exchanged views on the peace process in Sudan as well as the UN reform.

Ismal extended his welcome to the adoption of Resolution 1590 by the UN Security Council and hoped that the international society continue to support the peace process in Sudan.

Li noted that the Chinese side is ready to make joint efforts with the international society to actively encourage the momentum of national reconciliation in Sudan so as to achieve an early settlement of the Darfur Issue.
