On May 20, 2011, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Foreign Minister Mouldi Kefi of Tunisian National Unity Government.

Noting that significant changes took place in Tunisia's political situation earlier this year, Yang said China respects the will and choice of the Tunisian people and will remain committed to developing the traditional friendly relations with Tunisia. Kefi expressed appreciation for the Chinese government's political and economic assistance for the Tunisian National Unity Government. Both sides agreed to further enhance bilateral friendly exchanges and deepen pragmatic cooperation in all areas.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern, such as the political situation in West Asia and North Africa.
