On January 16, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi and visiting Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey held consultation between the two countries on UN Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern including the Middle East situation, the UN reform, Sudan’s Darfur, Somali and counter-terrorism.
