China and Turkey Sign Seven Bilateral Cooperation Documents

On June 25, 2009, China and Turkey signed 7 bilateral cooperation documents in Beijing, covering foreign affairs, energy, culture, media, trade and other fields.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Turkish President Abdullah Gul jointly attended the documents-signing ceremony after the bilateral talks.

The 7 bilateral cooperation documents are: the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey on the Establishment of a Joint Working Group, the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Energy Administration of China and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey on Energy Cooperation, the Accord between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Prevention of Theft, Illegal Excavation and Illegal Entry and Exit of Cultural Properties, the Agreement between Xinhua News Agency and Anadolu Agency on the Exchange of Video News, the Framework Agreement between the Export-Import Bank of China and Türk Telekom on Trade Financing Lines, the Framework Agreement between the Export-Import Bank of China and Turkiye Is Bankasi on Trade Financing Lines, and the Framework Agreement between the Export-Import Bank of China and Turkey's Akbank on Trade Financing Lines.

Zhai Jun, Assistant Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sun Qin, Vice Director of the National Energy Administration, Shan Jixiang, Director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), Li Congjun, President of Xinhua News Agency, and Li Ruogu, President of the Export-Import Bank of China, signed the abovementioned documents with the Turkish side.

President Abdullah Gul paid a state visit to China from 24 to 29 June at the invitation of President Hu Jintao. During the talks, the two heads of state agreed that the two sides should proceed from the current situation, establish a long-term vision, and make joint efforts to upgrade the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Turkey to a new level in the new century.
