On May 13, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the Foreign Ministry with Secretary-General of Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Madjid Bouguerra, who is here for political consultations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Yang said China attaches great importance and remains committed to advancing China-Algeria strategic cooperative relations. China is ready to join hands with Algeria to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen friendly exchanges and expand mutually beneficial cooperation. He urged both sides to keep closer consultation and coordination in international and regional affairs and push for all-round development of bilateral ties.

Bouguerra said China is a sincere friend of Algeria, adding that his country is satisfied with ties with China and is ready to further enhance friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation with China in all areas. He urged both sides to jointly open up broader prospect for the development of bilateral strategic cooperative relations.
