On May 18, 2011, President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi sent messages of congratulations respectively to East Timor's President Horta, Prime Minister Xanana and Foreign Minister Costa on the ninth anniversary of the restoration of independence of East Timor, which falls on May 20. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, the Chinese leaders extended congratulations to East Timor's government and people and expressed willingness to work with East Timor to further deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation in all areas and push the friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
