Dai Bingguo Attends China-India New Year Reunion and Delivers A Speech

On January 11, 2012, State Councilor Dai Bingguo attended the New Year reunion hosted by Indian embassy in China and made a speech. Indian ambassador to China Dr. S. Jaishankar, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin and around 70 delegates from the Chinese and Indian sides attended the event.

Dai extended warm congratulations on the success of the Year of China-India Exchanges and sincere gratitude to people of both sides committed to China-India friendship. He said that the Year of China-India Exchanges kicked off jointly by leaders of both countries played an important role of promoting the bilateral relations and made a good beginning of the bilateral relations in the second decade of the new century.

He noted that the world today is undergoing profound and complex changes. Under such circumstances, to advance China-India relations and cooperation is the necessary condition and important guarantee for both sides to concentrate on their own development and is also beneficial to world peace, stability and development. The peaceful growth of China and India brings opportunities not only to the two countries but also to the entire world. The two sides should comply with the trends of peace and development and strengthen communications, deepen mutual trust, expand cooperation and open a new stage of the bilateral strategic partnership for the sake of the welfare of both peoples.

On January 9, the Chinese embassy in India held a party in which Indian National Security Advisor Menon, Chinese ambassador to India Zhang Yan and friendly personnel from both sides participated.
