Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei Makes Representations with the Malaysian Side on the Offenses against Chinese Citizens in Malaysia

On November 30, 2005, Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei requested a meeting with Malaysian Ambassador to China Syed Norulzaman, during which Wu made solemn representations on the successive humiliations and offenses against Chinese citizens in Malaysia. Wu said that the Chinese government gives top priority to maintaining the dignity and safety of Chinese citizens and is greatly concerned of the successive offenses against Chinese citizens in Malaysia. The Chinese side demands the Malaysian side to investigate the related cases in an earnest and responsible attitude and take effective and substantive measures to present such incidents from happening once again. Norulzaman said that the Malaysian government and people from all walks of life were shock at such kind of severe incidents. Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi made clear instructions on the handling of the case. The Malaysian government would launch an investigation into the case and deal with it accordingly. The Malaysian government attaches great importance to the relationship with China and hopes that the friendly cooperation between the two countries will not be affected.
