On Aug. 27, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Secretary Arjun Thapa of Nepal. Wang Yi expressed that China and Nepal are friendly neighbours linked by mountains and rivers and the two countries have always been reliable strategic partners. China respects the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nepal, supports Nepal for seeking a development path in accordance with its own national conditions. The Chinese government under the new leadership will continue its commitment to the development of good-neighbourly and friendly relations with Nepal, strengthen bilateral connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation. The two countries should not only achieve connectivity for traffic, but more importantly for connectivity in hearts, emotions and interests. Hope both sides will work together to carry on China-Nepal traditional friendship, to push forward bilateral relations for greater development.
Thapa expressed that the Nepali government firmly adheres to the One China policy and does not allow any forces to use Nepali territory for any anti-China activities. Nepal is willing to work with China to further consolidate and develop Nepal-China comprehensive cooperative partnership of friendship for generations.
