Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Nepali Minister of Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala

On September 10, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Nepali Minister of Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala in Beijing.
Yang said the Sino-Nepali relationship has always developed in a healthy and smooth way since the establishment of diplomatic ties 54 years ago, serving as a model for relationship between big and small countries which is marked by equality, friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation. The Chinese government appreciates Nepal's consistent support for China's position on Tibet-related issues and will join hands with Nepal to consolidate good-neighborliness and friendship, deepen pragmatic cooperation and enrich the bilateral good-neighborly partnership, so as to benefit the two peoples, Yang said. Koirala said Nepal and China were traditional friendly neighbors. Nepal appreciated China's long-standing support for Nepal's economic and social development and was ready to work with China to advance bilateral ties. Reiterating the Nepali government's firm adherence to the one-China policy, Koirala said Nepal would not allow any forces to use its territory for anti-China separatist activities.
