Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with His Singaporean Counterpart

On August 19, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yong-Boon Yeo in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Yang said China and Singapore have maintained high-level political trust, mutually beneficial economicrelationship and sustained development of cooperation in all areas. They have also shown mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other's core interests and kept close coordination in international and regional affairs. Amid the global financial crisis, China will work with Singapore to seek new growth points for cooperation and advance cooperation between the two countries to a new height, said Yang.

Yeo spoke highly of the development of bilateral ties. He said Singapore attaches great importance to ties with China and firmly adheres to the one-China policy. Singapore is ready to work together with China to deepen pragmatic cooperation and push forward bilateral ties.
