On September 10, 2009, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Dalian with Singaporean Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of New Champions 2009, also known as the Summer Davos. Wen said that China and Singapore have conducted forward-looking cooperation in a wide range of areas including economy, trade, science, technology, environmental protection and human resources training with fruitful results achieved. He expressed hope that China and Singapore will continue to tap their respective advantages, learn from each other and cooperate closely, in a bid to push the bilateral relationship as well as the cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to a new high. Goh said Singapore is willing to join hands with China to cope with the current global financial crisis. Meanwhile, both sides should adopt a long-term prospective and jointly discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the post-crisis era. The Singaporean side hoped that both sides will maintain high-level exchanges, steadily advance the demonstration projects including Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-City and explore new areas and modes of cooperation.
