Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Thai Foreign Minister Noppadon

2008/04/15

On April 15, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held official talks with visiting Thai Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama in Beijing. They exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as other international and regional issues of common concern.

China and Thailand maintain a close relationship. Both sides share mutual benefits in economic exchanges, and cooperate well in international and regional affairs with a high level of political trust and expanding contacts in all areas, said Yang. China is willing to join hands with Thailand to earnestly implement the Joint Action Plan on China-Thailand Strategic Cooperation and push forward bilateral strategic cooperation, said Yang.

Hailing the profound traditional friendship between the two countries, Noppadon said bilateral relations have witnessed sound and steady development since the establishment of diplomatic ties over 30 years ago. Reaffirming Thailand's adherence to the one-China policy, Noppadon said his country is willing to work with China to push ahead with Thailand-China good-neighborly and friendly relations. He also expressed his confidence in a complete success of Beijing Olympic Games to be proud of by all Asian people. Noppadon noted that the Tibet question is purely China's internal affair. Thailand opposes connecting it with Beijing Olympics.
