On March 5, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met with a delegation headed by Deputy Director of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, who is here for the second round of China-India consular consultation. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations and consular cooperation. Wu made positive comments on China-India relations and thanked for India’s support to the success of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. He emphasized that relevant agencies of both sides should deepen communication and cooperation and actively address the problems existing in personnel exchanges to promote bilateral ties. The Indian side agreed with Wu’s comments on bilateral ties, noting that India is ready to enhance cooperation with China to promote personnel exchanges and trade development.
