Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), Meets with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo

2009/03/20

On March 20, 2009, Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), met in Hanoi with visiting Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo. Both sides had an in-depth, candid exchange of views in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.

Dai conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes from Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, to Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC). Manh also asked Dai to convey his regards to Hu.

Manh said Vietnam-China traditional friendship has been jointly cultivated by the leaders of the two countries and both peoples. "Vietnam-China relations are currently at a stage of good development," Manh said. He said Vietnam is closely following China’s development and is happy about the achievements that China has made in its three decades of reform and opening up. He said Vietnam would like to increase exchanges with China at all levels to enhance political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in various fields, share development experience and realize common development. Manh said Vietnam would like to continue to be a good friend of China with bilateral relations as "comrades and bothers", to promote friendly ties and serve the interests of the two peoples.

Dai said Hu Jintao and Manh agreed last year to build a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, which would boost bilateral ties to a new high. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government attach great importance to developing the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership with Vietnam, featuring long-term stability and lasting friendship. China firmly supports Vietnam's innovation and opening-up, and sincerely hopes the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Vietnamese people will make even greater achievements in the country's development, Dai said. The Chinese state councilor said he believes that both countries have the resolve, capability and wisdom to settle issues left over from history and explore greater potential for the development of bilateral ties.
