On April 10, 2009, Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China sent a congratulatory telegraph to Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on his reelection as Chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission. Hu said in the telegraph that the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the DPRK side to further push forward the development of good-neighborly friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries.
