Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone

On the afternoon of June 7, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone on the sidelines of the second China-Japan high-level economic dialogue in Tokyo.

During the meeting, Yang said China-Japan relations have continued to make progress this year. In the next period of time, both sides should work closely to inject new impetus into bilateral ties. He urged both sides to make efforts in the following three aspects. First, maintain the sound momentum of bilateral high-level exchanges. Second, make efforts to ensure the success of the second tripartite summit of China, Japan and ROK to be held in China this year. Third, comprehensively implement the outcome at the second China-Japan high-level economic dialogue to advance bilateral strategic reciprocal relations.

Nakasone said that Japan is ready to work with China to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all areas and at various levels for tangible results, so as to maintain a sound momentum of bilateral ties in the second half of the year.
