Dai Bingguo Meets with Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Mitoji Yabunaka

2009/06/24

On June 24, 2009, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met in Zhongnanhai with visiting Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Mitoji Yabunaka, who is here for the 10th round of China-Japan strategic dialogue.

China and Japan signed their fourth political document when President Hu Jintao visited Japan last May, which took bilateral relations to a new historic point, Dai said at the meeting. China paid great attention to its relationship with Japan and would like to work with Japan to promote a strategic relationship of mutual benefit, Dai said. He suggested that both sides support each other's peaceful development, jointly push forward the process of Asian integration, maintain peace and stability of Northeast Asia and cooperate to tackle the international financial crisis.

Yabunaka emphasized the great importance of the fourth political document between Japan and China. Japan is ready to work with China based on this document to push forward their strategic relations of mutual benefit, he said, adding that Japan will continue to abide by the policy of "exclusive defense" and adhere to the three non-nuclear principles and the path of peaceful development.
