On the morning of October 28, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with Rainer Dold, President of the German-Chinese Friendship Association of Baden-Wuerttemberg State and other German friends at the Great Hall of the People.
23 years ago, Li Keqiang headed a Chinese delegation to visit Germany when he was responsible for the All-China Youth Federation. Rainer Dold accompanied Li Keqiang and his colleagues during that visit when he was also doing the youth work. This May, Dold made a special trip to Berlin to welcome Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Germany.
Li Keqiang welcomed the German friends to China and asked about their current situation. He commended their commitments to China-Germany friendship, which can be embodied by their visit to China over 60 times. Li Keqiang said that over the past 20 years and more, Sino-German relations have made considerable progress and the exchanges and cooperation in various fields have brought tangible benefits to both sides. Sino-German relations cannot develop without the support of the two peoples and without the participation of civil friendly organizations of the two countries. Li expressed the hope that they would continue their efforts to promote Sino-German civil diplomacy and make new contributions to enhancing mutual understanding and mutual trust between the two peoples and expanding friendship and cooperation.
Li Keqiang said to the accompanying German youth representatives that the young people are not only the future of China and Germany, but also the future of Sino-German relations. The youth work is the work for the future. The two countries should continue to support and encourage their youths to study and work in the other country to learn from each other and progress with each other.
The German friends thanked Li Keqiang for having a meeting with them and appreciated his care and encouragement. Dold said that German-Chinese Friendship Association is willing to do more practical things to expand bilateral cooperation and during the visit, the German-Chinese Friendship Association will sign a long-term agreement with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to provide vocational training and short-term jobs for Chinese nurses in Germany and support China to foster human resources for China's undertaking that serve the seniors.
