On Nov. 18, 2013, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met in Seoul with Chief of the ROK Presidential Office of National Security Kim Jang-soo. Both sides introduced their foreign policies, respectively, and had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, the Korea Peninsula situation, and the international and regional issues of common concern.
Yang Jiechi said that following the consensus reached by the two heads of state, I visited the ROK and had dialogues with Chief of the Presidential Office of National Security. As important countries in the Asia-Pacific region and the world's major economies, China and the ROK strengthening communication, coordination and cooperation will be beneficial to both countries and the region. China attaches great importance to relations with the ROK, and puts China-ROK relations in an important place of neighbouring diplomacy. China is willing to work with the ROK to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and to promote bilateral relations to a new high.
Yang Jiechi said that the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee is an important meeting held at a new crucial moment of China's reform and opening-up. The meeting passed the "Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Several Important Issues of Comprehensively Deepening Reform", proposed that the overall goal of comprehensively deepening reform is to improve and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics, to promote the modernization of national governance system and abilities, and to make specific deployment of main tasks and measures to comprehensively deepen reform. The further reform and opening-up of China will certainly inject new impetus into strengthening China-ROK pragmatic cooperation and realizing common development.
Yang Jiechi said that China's diplomatic priority is to serve the national development, and build overall stable and favorable surrounding and international environment for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great revitalization of the Chinese nation. China will unswervingly pursue the road of peaceful development, vigorously promote win-win cooperation with other countries, and unremittingly consolidate good-neighborly and friendly surrounding environment. China is willing to have closer exchanges with the ROK at all levels, enhance mutual political trusts, deepen pragmatic cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, and jointly promote peace and development of the region and the world. Yang Jiechi also reiterated China's principled position on the Korea Peninsula issue.
Kim Jang-soo said that in recent years, China has made great development achievements. The ROK wishes China could realize the overall goal and the Chinese dream of comprehensively deepening reform as soon as possible. The ROK and China have very close relationship, and the two countries have carried out good cooperation in various fields. The ROK is committed to promoting trust diplomacy, and is willing to strengthen dialogue with China, to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and to realize common development. The ROK attaches great importance to China's constructive role in the international and regional issues, and is willing to keep closer cooperation with China.
Both sides also had an exchange of views on the international and regional issues of common concern.
