Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen

On the morning of March 28, 2005, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with his Norwegian counterpart Jan Petersen.

Li said China-Norway relations are witnessing a sound momentum of development at present. Bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanges in economy, trade, culture, education, science and technology keep deepening. China appreciates the Norwegian government's long-term adherence to the one-China policy, and is willing to expand cooperation with Norway in various fields and maintain close communication and consultation on international affairs on the basis of mutual respect so as to further promote the sound and stable development of China-Norway relations.

Petersen agreed with Li's comment on bilateral relations, reiterating that Norway will continue to stick to the one-China policy. He said the Norwegian government gives priority to developing relations with China, and is willing to enhance cooperation with China in economy, trade, environmental protection and tourism.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on other important international and regional issues of common concern.

Also present at the meeting were Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, Norwegian Ambassador to China Tor Christian Hildan and other officials. Petersen arrived in China on March 27 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.
