Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui Meets with Secretary for Security of HKSAR Government Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong

On August 24, 2007, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with a visiting delegation headed by Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government. Zhang expressed thanks for the support and assistance that the Security Bureau has offered over the years to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Office of the Commissioner of the MFA of the P.R.C. in the HKSAR. He said with more and more Hong Kong compatriots making foreign trips, the number of Hong Kong-related consular protection cases is increasing. The MFA will continue close cooperation with the SAR government to do a good job in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Hong Kong compatriots, said Zhang. Lee thanked the MFA and Chinese embassies and consulates in foreign countries for their efforts to rescue and help overseas Hong Kong compatriots.
