Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui Meets with Governor of Guam

On September 17, 2007, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with Governor of Guam Felix P. Camacho and his wife, who are in China at the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contacts. Zhang introduced the recent developments of Sino-U.S. ties and China's positive position on developing friendly exchanges and cooperation with Guam, and focused the discussion on the Taiwan question. Camacho said the exchanges between Guam and China enjoy a time-honored history and China is very significant to the economic growth of Guam, adding that the government of Guam is committed to further strengthening tourism, economic and trade cooperation with China. He pledged that fully aware of the sensitivity of the Taiwan question, he and the government of Guam will strictly abide by the one-China policy.
