On the evening of Sep. 29, 2007, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo met with the heads of the six delegations to the second phase of the six-parties talks in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Dai said, "We once compared the work of the six-party talks to mountain-climbing and fishing. We have climbed over many mountains and caught big fishes. We issued the 9.19 Joint Statement and 2.13 Joint Document, whose initial actions have been implemented in an all-round manner. China spoke highly of the constructive efforts made by the parties. God helps those who help themselves. So long as we work hard, we will harvest gains." Dai said that the meeting connects the past and the future, and is confronted with more arduous and complex tasks. China hopes that the parties, proceeding from a long-term perspective and having the larger picture in mind, continue to pool their wisdom to push the six-party talks forward with firm will and strong patience. The heads of the DPRK, Japanese, ROK, Russian and U.S. delegations thanked China for the tremendous work for hosting the meeting. They believed that the consultations in the past few days were pragmatic and rewarding and indicated that their will and determination to continue the six-party talks will never change and they would strengthen dialogue and cooperation to overcome the difficulties and obstacles on the way forward and constantly make new headways. In the daytime, the six parties held the meeting of the heads of delegation and multiple bilateral meetings and had in-depth discussions on the action plans for the next stage.
