On October 26, 2007, Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei attended the Senior Officials Consultation Meeting of East Asia Summit in Singapore and exchanged opinions on the preparations for the third East Asia Summit to be held at the end of 2007 with other parties concerned. He recognized the progress which the summit had achieved so far and expressed hope that the summit adheres to the position as a strategic dialogue platform guided by leaders according to the common consensus reached by the leaders and plays a positive role of enhancing the mutual understanding and trust, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development of East Asian countries.
