Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui Meets with Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong SAR Henry Tang Ying-yen

2007/10/30

Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with visiting Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Henry Tang Ying-yen on October 30, 2007.

Zhang noted that since Hong Kong's return to the motherland a decade ago it has enjoyed expanding foreign exchanges and increasing international influence. The position of Hong Kong as an international financial, trade and shipping centre has got further consolidated. All these fully demonstrate that the "one country, two systems" gives Hong Kong vast space to develop foreign exchanges and Hong Kong, as an international metropolis where oriental and western cultures converge, enjoys unique advantages of enhancing relations with countries and regions around the world. The Foreign Ministry will, as always, support the SAR in carrying out foreign exchanges and cooperation and contribute to the stability, prosperity and development of Hong Kong.

Tang expressed gratitude to the Foreign Ministry and the Office of the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong SAR for their support for the SAR government's foreign exchanges.
