2008/01/24

On January 23, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun held talks with Libyan President Gaddafi's special envoy Siala in the Chinese foreign ministry.

Zhai commented the relations between China and Libya positively and said that the Chinese side expects to make joint efforts with Libya to consolidate and develop the friendly cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and communication sectors and strengthen coordination and communications in international affairs. China admires Libya's adherence to the one-China principle.

Siala noted that Libya attaches great importance to developing the friendly and cooperative relations with China. Libya is conducting large scale of economic construction and welcomes more Chinese companies to invest there. Its one-China policy will remain unchanged.

Both sides also exchanged opinions on such issues of common interest as China-Africa relations.
