On February 18, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met Eleih-Elle Etian, Cameroon Ambassador to China and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in China and accepted the 50,000-yuan donation presented by him on behalf of the African Diplomatic Corps.

Etian, on behalf of the African Diplomatic Corps, expressed sympathy and condolence to the victims of heavy snow, sleet, icy rain and unusual cold in the southern region of China. He said that the African Diplomatic Corps paid close attention to China's disastrous situation and decided to make donations in support of China's disaster relief efforts. He also expressed congratulations and admirations to the Chinese government and people for what had been has achieved in disaster relief.

Zhai, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese foreign ministry, thanked the African Diplomatic Corps in China for making donations to China's disaster relief efforts. Zhai said that the generous move was a reflection of the profound sentiments held by the African Diplomatic Corps toward the Chinese people. The foreign ministry would deliver the donation to related departments. Zhai also expressed the confidence of the Chinese government and people in overcoming difficulties and winning the victory in the fight against the disaster.
