On March 12, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with State Secretary Espen Barth Eide of Norwegian Ministry of Defense.

Zhang spoke highly of the current China-Norway relations, saying that China is ready to make joint efforts with Norway to push forward bilateral ties through in-depth, broad dialogue. Eide fully agreed with Zhang's comments on bilateral ties, adding that Norway adheres to the one-China policy, attaches importance to developing ties with China and is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in bilateral and multilateral areas in a comprehensive manner.

Both sides also exchanged views on such issues as the international security situation, the UN peacekeeping operations and Sudan's Darfur.
