Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo Meets with Delegation of Malawian Democratic Progress Party (DPP)

2008/04/07

On April 7, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met in the Chinese Foreign Ministry with a delegation of the Malawian Democratic Progress Party (DPP) heaed by Dr. H. Ntaba, general secretary of the DPP and chief adviser to the president on political affairs.

Wu said since the establishment of China-Malawi diplomatic ties more than three months ago, the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries has made positive progress in all areas and at various levels, and the bilateral relations have shown a sound momentum for development. Hailing President Bingu wa Mutharika's just-concluded visit to China as a success, Wu said China is ready to work with Malawi to actively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push for smooth development of bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Ntaba said Malawi is satisfied with the progress made in bilateral cooperation in all areas. President Mutharika's visit to China realized the exchanges between heads of state of the two countries and was warmly received by the Malawian people. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the friendly cooperation between the two countries will surely score greater achievements.
