On April 22, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met with Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon in Beijing.

Dai hailed the positive momentum of China-India ties. He expressed appreciation for Indian government's efforts on the successful Olympic torch relay in its capital, New Delhi. Menon said India attached great importance to the India-China relations, adding he believed the Beijing Olympics would surely be a success. Menon said the Indian government would prevent Tibetans from conducting political activities against China in India.
