Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui Meets with German Federal Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Schaeuble

On April 28, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met in the Foreign Ministry with a visiting delegation headed by German Federal Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Schaeuble. The delegation is on a visit to China at the invitation of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China. Zhang spoke highly of the current China-Germany relations, saying that the Chinese government attaches great importance to ties with Germany and is ready to work with the country to push forward bilateral ties based on the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. Echoing Zhang's comments on bilateral ties, Schaeuble appreciated China's enormous achievements in economic and social development. He reaffirmed that the German government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and further deepen friendly cooperation with China. Schaeuble also noted that he will come to Beijing to watch the Olympic Games as a minister in charge of sports affairs and wished the games a great success. Both sides also exchanged views on issues including globalization, the Iranian nuclear issue and the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
